Iran discloses shrimp production volume in Hormozgan province

Shrimp production reached 7,000 tons in Iran’s southern Hormozgan province from July 22 to October 22, Ali Akbar Mojaz, director of the department engaged in the development of shrimp production in the province, said.

“The shrimp production volumes are predicted to reach up to 28,000 tons till December 21,” Mojaz added, Trend reports on Oct. 29 referring to IRNA.

The director of the department added that 5,420 hectares were allocated for shrimp farming this year.

“Some 80 percent of shrimp grown in the province is exported to Europe and Asia,” Mojaz said.

“Hormozgan is the only shrimp breeding province in which shrimp are caught twice a year - from the second half of March through May 21 and from July 22 through December 21,” the director of the department said.
