Major General Electric gas turbine repair center being built in Turkmenistan

Turkey’s Calik Holding is building a new service center on the territory of a power plant in the Abadan district of Ashgabat, the Turkmen capital, Trend reports referring to Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper.

The facility will be commissioned in 2022, the report said. At this stage, construction and installation work is underway.

Calik is to create the biggest modern high-tech service base in Central Asia, mainly for maintenance of gas turbines of power plants are equipped and to master the repair of electric generators, transformer substations of different capacities, electrical panels and other energy equipment.

Presently, 32 gas turbines of various capacities of the US General Electric company are operated in Turkmenistan. Their service maintenance was previously performed by the company itself. Now a specialized center will be restoring the nominal parameters of equipment and spare parts.

To this end, workshops will be built on an area of ​​more than 4,000 square meters, which will be equipped with high-tech machinery from leading manufacturers, including from General Electric.

In addition, under the contract for the repair of gas turbines, the contractor will supply 16 sets of spare parts, and this will allow to create an exchange fund.

According to experts, through the organization of service maintenance and timely and high-quality repair, the reliability of gas turbines will increase, while the time and cost of restoration work will be reduced, and new jobs will be created, the article said.
