An agreement was signed between Georgian Argo Brewing Company and the Dutch Royal Swinkels Family Brewers company, Trend reports citing the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.
The agreement was signed by Argo CEO Vasil Sulkhanishvili and Royal Swinkels Family Brewers executive director Peer Swinkels.
Georgia's Minister of Economy Natia Turnava congratulated the companies on continued cooperation and noted that this is a vivid example of how Georgia attracts European investments.
At the same time, for Royal Swinkels, this is a great opportunity to produce beer in Georgia, to hire more people, and thanks to the free trade agreements that Georgia has signed, to sell its products in different markets, said Turnava.
“This is a useful deal for our growth. Georgian market comprises much potential for our brands. Thanks to continuous growth in tourism and beer market, this country is very interesting for us. Geographical location between Asia and Europe provides good opportunities for exports. This deal proves our successful cooperation with Argo and we hope to further expand collaboration and extend the contract,” said Swinkels.
“There is a growing and dynamic beer market in Georgia. Our cooperation with Royal Swinkels Family will increase our role on this market,” Sulkhanishvili said.
On July 31, 2019 Royal Swinkels Family Brewers bought a 40 percent stake in Argo brewery in Georgia. As a result, the Dutch company has increased its market ratio in Georgia to 15 percent.
Royal Swinkels issued first license for Bavaria beer brand production in Georgia in 2016. In 2017 it launched another brand - Holland, jointly with Argo.
Royal Swinkels Family Brewers is a family business from Noord-Brabant in the Netherlands, that is active in the beer, soft drink and malt sector. The company is fully owned by the Swinkels family for seven generations. The head office is located in Lieshout and there are subsidiaries in twelve countries.
