An export-import exhibition will be held in Shanghai on November 5-10, 2019, where Georgian products will be represented, Trend reports citing Georgian media outlets.
Beka Mikaberidze, an official representative of the Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in China explains that this is the largest platform in the world focused on imports.
According to Mikaberidze, Georgian wine, especially the red one is becoming more popular on the Chinese market.
"We hope that in the nearest future we will export honey as well. The Chinese also like traditional cheese because it suits the native market and cuisine”, Mikaberidze said.
He expressed hope that export of products from Georgia will grow every year.
Georgia signed a free trade agreement with China in 2017.
For nine months of 2019, total imports to Georgia from China amounted to $647.2 million In turn, Georgia exported goods worth $125.1 million to China.
The foreign trade turnover of Georgia with China from January to August 2019 exceeded $772.3 million, which is 8.4 percent of the total trade turnover of Georgia.
