A 150 megawatt hydroelectric power station has been commissioned in Iran’s West Azerbaijan province, Deputy Director of the hydroelectric power station of the Iranian Farab company Mohammad Ali Khodai said.
“The hydroelectric power station has three units with a capacity of 50 megawatts each, and they will be able to produce 422 gigawatts of electricity annually,” Khodai added, Trend reports referring to IRNA.
The deputy director added that three trillion rials (about $71.4 million) were invested in the hydroelectric power station, built on a dam in the Sardasht county, while the dam capacity reaches 380 million cubic meters.
The Sardasht dam, on which the hydroelectric power station has been built, is located on the Little Zab River.
Speaker of the Iranian parliament Ali Larjani and Energy Minister Reza Ardakanian attended the commissioning ceremony.
Iranian officials will take part in the launching ceremonies of three water, sewer and filtration projects in Urmia, in which about 1.1 trillion rials (about $26.1 million) were invested.
