The production volumes of Iran's door and UPVC window profiles have decreased threefold, Huseyn Tusi, chairman of Iran's Association of Manufacturers of UPVC Doors and Windows, said.

“Iran may produce about 180,000 tons of profiles a year,” Tusi added, Trend reports referring to the Young Journalists Club (YJC).

The chairman added that along with other manufacturers, the manufacturers of the door and window profiles have also suffered losses as a result of the US sanctions.

"Iran exports door and window profiles to several countries, including Georgia, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan and neighbouring countries," Tusi said.

The chairman of the association said that Iran does not import many door and window profiles because import is not advisable after devaluation.

"The door and window profiles are imported into the country mainly from Turkey through the Free Trade Zones," Tusi said.

The US began to impose sanctions on Iran in November 2018. The US is expanding its list of sanctions.

The devaluation had a great impact on the economy in Iran last summer. Thus, the exchange rate of $1 (35,000 rials) increased by more than 220,000 rials.

After the Iranian government interfered, the exchange rate of dollar decreased.

Presently, $1 equals 42,000 rials in accordance with the official exchange rate of the Central Bank of Iran while 113,000 rials in the black market.
