Iran waiting for 300 foreign companies to invest in Chabahar Free Zone

About 300 foreign companies from 17 countries have been registered to invest in Iran's Chabahar's Free Zone, Managing Director of the zone, Abolrahim Kordi told Trend.

"The investment requests from Asian , Africans and European countries will be mostly active in transportation, transmission and commercial sector," he said.

"There are also several registered companies, working in fishery, food fields, petrochemicals too, and foreigners invest in them," Kordi said.

He added that investors from Afghanistan, Pakistan, China settled for investing in fishery, downstream petrochemicals.

"Iran is cooperating with Germany, France regarding fishery, but their investments haven't been absorbed so far," he said.

"India has investment agreements with Iran's Ports and Maritime Organization, while we are negotiating with India's private sector investors over steel, ferrum and petrochemical sectors," he said.

Kordi added that as of now, India's private sector has suspended working with Iran, waiting for a more transparent atmosphere.
