By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:
An increase in the load on city buses and the subway has been observed in Georgian Tbilisi recently, Trend reports citing Georgian media outlets.
According to the vice mayor of Tbilisi, Irakli Khmaladze, there is no need to fear the increased use of public transport.
“If more citizens will travel by public transport, and if the less of them will use private transport, it will be better for the city, and it will be easier to solve transport problems and deal with traffic jams,” said Khmaladze.
At the same time, according to him, public transport functions smoothly.
Official statistics also testify to the increase in the number of bus and metro passengers.
In particular, in 2018, compared with 2017, the passenger use of public transport increased by 10 percent.
In 2017, 113.8 million people took advantage of municipal buses and the subways, while in 2018 - 128.4 million people.
