Timeframe for opening sewing factory in Azerbaijani district revealed

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Nov. 12

By Matanat Nasibova – Trend:

Opening of a small sewing enterprise as part of a project being implemented in Azerbaijan through financial support from the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) is planned during the first months of next year, Head of Azerbaijan’s Association of Women Entrepreneurs Sakina Babayeva told Trend.

“A new factory will be opened in Azerbaijan’s Tovuz district,” Babayeva said.

“Some 120,000 manat ($70,589) have been allocated for the implementation of this project,” the association head noted. “The project is being financed by the Association and SECO. Each of the parties contributes 50 percent of the financial resources. Opening of the new factory will contribute to the creation of over 30 permanent job places.”

Babayeva added that as part of the project, it is expected to create similar facilities in several Azerbaijani regions.

“Small enterprises play a huge role in business from the point of view of the development of women’s entrepreneurship in the regions,” the association head said. “We, in turn, direct not only financial resources to the development of the business climate in cities and regions, but also conduct free trainings, during which free consultations on the preparation of business plans and doing business are provided.”

According to the statistics, over 143,000 women are involved in business activities in Azerbaijan.

The Azerbaijani Association of Women Entrepreneurs was established in October 2017 through the support of Azerbaijan’s State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs.
