Uzbekistan Airways is interested in flights to the Pulkovo airport in Russian St. Petersburg under the fifth air freedom regime, Trend reports citing Uzbek media.
The liberalization of airspace in Pulkovo will allow Uzbekistan Airways to expand its flight geography by changing existing routes and opening new ones.
In case of obtaining the fifth freedom of air, Uzbekistan Airways JSC will consider the possibility of flying from Pulkovo airport to such countries as Norway, Finland, Canada and the US.
The fifth freedom regime allows flying from one state to another if the flight starts or ends in the carrier's country of registration.
With the fifth freedom, the Uzbekistan Airways plane will be able to fly from Tashkent to the US with a stop at Pulkovo airport, during a stop in St. Petersburg, some passengers will leave, and those who intend to fly to the US will board.
Thus, the airline will be able to ensure occupancy of flights, and passengers from different countries will expand their ability to choose flight directions.
