Uzbekistan’s Uztextile Association represented by Uztextilexport LLC signed a contract with Russian Galteks LLC (Ivanovo) for the supply of cotton fabrics worth $50 million, Trend reports citing Uzbek media.

The agreement was concluded during the VI All-Russian Forum of Light Industry held in the Russian city of Ivanovo. The event was attended by more than 400 representatives of manufacturers and consumers of textile products from Russia, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Azerbaijan and other countries of Europe and Asia.

Particular attention on the sidelines of the forum was given to the rapid development of the textile industry in Uzbekistan.

At the exhibition, Uzbek manufacturers were actively negotiating to increase the export of finished sewing and knitwear and fabrics and concluded a number of agreements with their partners.

Earlier, Uzbekistan announced its intention to open a textile and logistics center in the Ivanovo region for the storage and distribution of cotton yarn, cotton fiber and harsh fabrics.

Moreover, Trade House of Uzbekistan may open in Russian Samara region in 2020. It is planned to sell finished sewing products from Uzbekistan there. Goods will diverge to other Russian regions from Samara region.

In February, Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree according to which the country should bring textile exports to $7 billion by 2025 by processing the entire volume of cotton yarn produced in Uzbekistan.

Production capacities allow Russian Galtex Group of Companies to produce up to 5 million meters of fabrics per month, depending on the assortment, which is diverse and consists of cotton fabrics of calico and towel groups.

In 2007, Galtex LLC leased and then acquired the premises of the “Krasinka“ factory, and since then the main activity of Galtex has been the production of cotton fabrics, for which the existing weaving equipment has been modernized and installed.
