Iran and Iraq trade down

TEHRAN, Iran, Nov.21

Trend:

The Iran-Iraq trade has been affected by the recent incidents in the two countries, head of Iran and Iraq Chamber of Commerce. Hamid Hosseini told Trend.

"The recent incidents in Iran and Iraq, specifically the internet shutdown in Iran and problems at border provinces, namely in Khuzestan and Sanandaj, have affected our exports to Iraq, but they still continue," Hosseini said.

"The latest statistics from November 19 indicate that the process of exports in the country's West weren't bad," he added.

"At the Parvizkhan border, more than 160 vehicles and some 120 trucks in Tamarchin exported goods to Iraq, while more trucks exported Iran's goods to Iraq's Kurdish autonomy," said the official.

"Yet, the export statistics at southern borders were dropping," he said.

"The exports situation in Ilam province has been good but the exports in southern Provinces were falling," he added. "A total of 427 Iraqi trucks exported Iranian goods to Iraq's southern borders in Tuesday," he said.

Hosseini went on to say that within the first seven months of the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2019) there has been a 10-percent fall in the Iran-Iraq trade.
