India sees great potential to increase economic engagements with Azerbaijan, Ambassador of India to Azerbaijan Bawitlung Vanlalvawna told Trend.
He pointed out that India and Azerbaijan enjoy warm and friendly relations based on historical and cultural ties and our bilateral relations continue to grow in multifaceted areas.
“India was one of the first countries to recognize the independence of Azerbaijan in 1991. Both India and Azerbaijan share the values of democracy and plurality, and respect for other cultures. The two countries collaborate closely at various global platforms including the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM). India as a founding member of NAM and Azerbaijan as the current Chairman of NAM, the two countries have a greater role to play in promoting global peace and security, and in voicing the hopes and aspirations of nearly two-thirds of humanity,” said the envoy.
Vanlalvawna pointed out that India is keen to consolidate and strengthen its friendly relations with Azerbaijan in all areas.
“We see great potential to increase our economic engagements including in the fields of information and communications technology, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, transportation, energy etc, to name a few. We are also witnessing increased people to people and cultural contacts between the two sides,” he added.
