Aluminum production volume to reach 700,000 tons in Iran

Aluminum production volume will reach 700,000 tons a year in Iran, Iran's Minister of Industry, Mining and Trade Reza Rahmani said.

Rahmani made the remark at the event dedicated to the implementation of 42 industrial projects in Iran's East Azerbaijan province, Trend reports referring to IRNA.

“Presently, aluminum production capacity is 450,000 tons per year in Iran,” the minister said.

“Some 300,000 tons will be additionally produced in the near future,” Rahmani said.

The minister said that the plant is under construction through IMIDRO’s investments worth 137 million euros and 17 trillion rials (approximately $40 million). The contractor is Khatam al-Anbiya Construction Headquarter which is an Iranian engineering firm controlled by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Rahmani said that 15 trillion rials (about $357 million) have been spent so far on the infrastructure of the nepheline syenite plant in Sarab county of the province.

The plant, which is being built for the production of aluminium from nepheline syenite, is expected to produce 70,000 tons of aluminium a year.

During the visit of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani to the East Azerbaijan province, a number of projects have been implemented and the implementation of a number of projects has been launched.
