Uzbekistan may launch production of electric buses

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Nov. 28

By Fakhri Vakilov - Trend:

The administration of Uzbekistan’s capital of Tashkent intends to increase the number of electric buses in the city, Trend reports citing Uzbek media.

It is planned to purchase another batch or open production of electric buses in Uzbekistan.

The administration met with the delegation of Belarus, including Vladimir Korol - general director of Belarusian management company of the Belkomunmash Holding, a manufacturer of urban electric vehicles.

At the meeting, the introduction of electric buses in Tashkent was discussed.

Along with the expansion of the fleet, the administration is considering the possibility of producing electric buses in Uzbekistan.

Korol assured that the Belarusian side is ready to create a working group and prepare a technical task in both areas of cooperation - both to increase the number of electric buses and to localize their production. He also noted that the Uzbek experience in using an electric bus is of interest in other countries of the region, so that localized production will find its customers.

The Belarusian side invited a delegation of Tashkent specialists to visit Minsk to make final decisions on the introduction of electric buses in Tashkent.

In Oct. 2019, the first Belarusian Vitovt Electro E420 electric bus went into operation in Tashkent.
