Uzbekistan’s Almalyk mining, metallurgical complex exceeds cooper, silver production plan

Uzbekistan’s Almalyk mining and metallurgical complex (MMC) over 9 months of this year exceeded the plan for silver production by 37.1 percent, Trend reports citing the press service of the plant.

Moreover, on November 27, Almalyk MMC exceeded the plan for the production of cathode copper by 32.3 percent.

The modernization of production, the introduction of advanced technologies and new technology, as well as favorable social conditions and opportunities created for workers by the management of the plant are behind these figures.

Almalyk LLC is a mining and metallurgical enterprise in the city of Almalyk, Tashkent region, one of the largest mining and metallurgical enterprises in Uzbekistan, a producer of about 90 percent of silver and 20 percent of gold in Uzbekistan and the largest copper producer in Central Asia.

Today Almalyk MMC is an industrial complex that includes six mines, five concentration plants, three metallurgical plants, the Angren Pipe Plant (mainly focused on export of copper pipes), as well as the Jizzakh and Sherabad cement factories.

Moreover, the complex includes: Industrial Railway Administration (with 3 railway workshops), the Automobile Transport Department with 8 depots, as well as about 40 auxiliary workshops, departments and services.

In addition, Almalyk MMC in cooperation with such joint ventures as AWP LLC, HPC SYSTEMS LLC produces copper sulfate, plumbing, fittings and cable products for export.

In July 2018, Almalyk MMC JSC was transferred to the trust management of SFI Management Group.
