The Iran-Italy business meeting was held in Milan, with presence of Iranian ambassador to Italy Hamid Bayat, heads of chambers of commerce of the two countries and industry businessmen, Trend reports via IRNA.
At the meeting, the ambassador referred to the development of bilateral political and economic relations between Iran and Italy, as well as the support of the two countries 'officials to the trade and economic exchanges between the two countries.
Emphasizing the need to increase the activity of both parties' private sectors, Bayat noted the full readiness of Iranian embassy in Rome for assistance and support.
“The long-standing Iranian-Italian trade interactions and the mutual trust between two countries' companies are a positive aspect,” said Bayat.
“According to official statistics, Italy has been Iran's first trading partner among the EU countries in 2017-2018,” he said, adding that despite the US-imposed sanctions on Iran, the trade with Italy didn't stop.
Bayat also spoke of the need to diversify the trade in goods and services between the two countries.
He went on to emphasize the role of private sector in adopting innovative solutions in the current situation with the aim of removing barriers and enhancing the level of trade relations between the two countries.
