The Managing Director at Safiran Payam Darya shipping company in Iran Mohammad Mohammadi Banaie announced a plan to open a new shipping line specifically for the carriage of cargoes from Iranian ports to Eastern Mediterranean.

"Despite cruel sanctions imposed on the country's maritime transport, a new special shipping line will be launched to support the exports,” Banaie said, Trend reports citing ILNA.

He emphasized that the most important goal of launching this shipping line is to increase the share of Iran in export and import cargo market.

“With the opening of this shipping line from Iran to the Mediterranean and vice versa, the share of Iranian national fleet in shipping will increase,” he said.

He also cited support for traders and exporters under the sanctions as another objective for opening the new shipping line.

Banaie said that shipment of all types of cargo up to 20,000 tons to the Black Sea and the eastern Mediterranean will become possible through this shipping line.
