The construction of the Chabahar-Zahedan railway line will be accelerated in Sistan and Baluchistan province in southeastern Iran, Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mohammad Eslami said during his visit to Zahedan, the capital of Sistan and Baluchestan, Trend reports via ILNA.
Eslami noted that at present Sistan and Baluchistan province has become a major construction site from north to south: expansion of roads, rail lines, Shahid Beheshti port and airport is underway.
The necessary funds have been provided from the National Development Fund of Iran, the minister said.
Moreover, an agreement has been signed with the private sector on the financing the merge of the Zahedan railway with Birjand in South Khorasan province, Eslami said.
The Road and Urban Planning Ministry intends to connect the main roads in all around Sistan and Baluchistan with the highways of Iran, the minister said adding that the second lane is being laid in the direction of Zahidan-Khash.
Commenting on the purpose of his visit to Sistan and Baluchistan province, the Iranian minister said that the foundation of a new airport will be laid in Chahahar.
The National Development Fund of Iran has allocated 300 million euros for the construction of Chahahar-Zahedan railway.
