Iran discloses volume of cargoes loaded and unloaded in Hormozgan province

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Dec. 6

Some 7.8 million tons of cargoes brought by railway to the Persian Gulf Mining and Metal Industries Special Economic Zone in Iran’s Hormozgan province were loaded and unloaded from March 21 through November 21 of this Iranian year (beginning on March 21, 2019), executive director of the zone Hassan Khalaj Tehrani said.

Tehrani made the remark in Iran at the meeting with the directors of the companies in the zone, Trend reports referring to the zone’s website.

“Some 4.5 million tons of cargoes were transported in the same period of last year,” the executive director added.

Tehrani added that among the loaded and unloaded cargoes 4.5 million tons accounted for mining materials and 3.3 million tons of fuel oil from March 21 through November 21 of this Iranian year.

The executive director said that over 58,000 railcars were unloaded from March 21 through November 21 of last year, but this year the figure reached 62,000 railcars.

"The cargoes are unloaded from 400 railcars daily in the zone," Tehrani said.
