Minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran Mohammad Eslami has praised the Supreme Leader of Iran Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and the government for ordering the necessary funding for the project of Chabahar-Zahedan railway from the National Development Fund.
“From north to south Sistan and Baluchistan Province has become a large construction workshop with major projects such as a railway, road construction and housing, development of Shahid Beheshti Port and construction of an0 airport,” Eslami said, Trend reports citing IRNA.
"For the past several months we have been trying to expand the volume of operations at Shahid Beheshti Port in Chabahar, and we have been guiding ships of basic commodities from the eastern part of the country to the port,” he said.
Speaking of the Zahedan railway, Eslami said that two agreements have been signed to finance the Zahedan railway connection to Birjand.
“The contract to connect Birjand to the national rail network has been signed with the private sector,” he said.
