In the first seven months of the current Iranian year (started on March 21, 2019), the exports of manufacturing enterprises of Iran's Alborz province exceeded $400 million, Deputy Governor of Alborz province Jahangir Shahmoradi said at an event on the technology exchange of small and medium enterprises, Trend reports citing Tasnim News Agency.

Currently, downstream industries account for about 95 percent of Iran's economy, Shahmoradi said, adding that the main problem of downstream industries in Iran is the lack of information about each other.

Favorable conditions have been created in the industrial parks of Alborz province to utilize the potential that emerges from having information about each other, the deputy governor said.

Amidst the current sanctions and difficult economic situation, conditions should be created for the exchange of information between industrial enterprises, thus eliminating problems in their production areas, Shahmoradi said.

In recent years, ties between Iran's industries and universities have intensified, the deputy governor said, adding that at present, there are more than 160 start-ups in the province.

Iran has over 3,500 manufacturing and industrial enterprises in Alborz province.

The US imposed sanctions on Iran in November 2018 and expanded the list of sanctions several times. The sanctions have had a devastating impact on Iran's economy. As a result of devaluation, Iran's national currency has fallen several times. However, Iran says that steps have been taken to develop the non-oil sector and increase exports.
