The Air Products and Chemicals company will help create production of pure carbon dioxide (CO2) on the basis of Navoiazot JSC in Uzbekistan, Trend reports citing the press service of Uzbekistan’s Uzkimyosanoat JSC chemical company.
The new highly efficient production is designed to produce 120,000 tons of pure carbon dioxide per year.
The construction of a new facility is scheduled for 2020-2021, according to the press service. The preliminary cost of the project is $15.4 million.
Products will be used for domestic needs, some will be exported.
The scope of application of carbon dioxide covers many industries - chemical, food, metallurgical, pulp and paper, electronics, pharmaceuticals, etc.
In the chemical industry, carbon dioxide is used in production of synthetic chemicals and regulation of reactor temperatures, in the processes of purification or drying of polymers and fibers of animal or vegetable origin.
The new products of Navoi chemists are widely used in the food industry: in saturation with carbon dioxide, effervescent drinks, including non-alcoholic, mineral water and beer, in cooling or freezing processes (in the form of cryogenic liquid) and temperature control during food distribution (in the form of dry ice) .
