Over 3,600 tons of kiwi exported from Iran's Nowshahr county

As many as 3,667 tons of kiwi were exported from Iran’s Nowshahr county in Mazandaran province in the 9th month (Nov. 22 – Dec. 21, 2019), said Hassan Pourmoghadam, the head of the Nowshahr agricultural department, Trend reports referring to the Mazandaran Agriculture Department’s website.

Pourmoghadam noted that a total of 8,300 tons of kiwi were exported in the nine months (March 21 – Dec. 21, 2019).

This figure shows a 286 percent increase compared to the same period last year, the department head added.

“In the ninth month, more than 33,000 flowers were exported along with kiwi,” Pourmoghadam said.

The products were exported via the Nowshahr port, the department head noted.

Pourmoghadam added that 33,000 tons of barley, 41,000 tons of corn feed and 53,000 square meters of wood were imported in the ninth month.

During the nine months, 770,000 square meters of wood, 221,000 tons of barley, 227,000 tons of corn feed and 1,500 tons of cotton seed powder were imported.

Mazandaran province has 460,000 hectares of arable land and gardens. About 7 million tons of products are harvested in the province annually. These products include rice, citrus fruits, kiwi, herbs and flowers.
