Azerbaijan's TOP-5 trade partners in 2019

Azerbaijan's trade turnover with its five main trade partners amounted to over $17.3 billion in 2019 or 52.14 percent of its total trade turnover, Trend reports referring to the country's State Customs Committee.

Italy retained the status of Azerbaijan's biggest trading partner with a turnover of $6 billion and a share of 18.04 percent. Italy is followed by Turkey - $4.5 billion (13.54 percent), Russia - $3 billion (9.07 percent), China - $2.1 billion (6.56 percent) and Germany - $1.6 billion (4.93 percent).

During the reported period, Azerbaijan bought most of the products worth $2.3 billion (16.76 percent) from Russia. It is followed by Turkey - $1.6 billion (12.05 percent), China - $1.4 billion (10.48 percent), Switzerland - $1.2 billion (8.95 percent) and the US - $767.7 million (5.62 percent).

The share of these countries in Azerbaijan’s total imports was 53.86 percent.

Italy was the main importer of Azerbaijani products in 2019. Some $5.6 billion (28.72 percent) of Azerbaijan’s total export accounted for Italy. It is followed by Turkey - $2.8 billion (14.58 percent), Israel – $1.3 billion (6.78 percent), India - $955.8 million (4.87 percent) and Germany - $931.7 million (4.75 percent).

The share of these countries in Azerbaijan’s total export was 59.7 percent.

In general, Azerbaijan’s foreign trade operations increased by 7.14 percent and amounted to $33.3 billion in 2019, compared to 2018.

The positive balance amounted to over $5.9 billion in 2019, which is 25.33 percent less compared to 2018 ($7.9 billion).
