Uzbekistan to fully switch to mechanized cotton picking by 2026

All regions of Uzbekistan will switch to mechanized cotton picking by 2026, Trend reports citing Uzbekistan’s legal “Norma” information portal.

Uzbekistan’s Cabinet of Ministers adopted a resolution on measures to increase the level of mechanization of cotton harvest in the regions of the country.

At the first stage (2020–2022), the introduction of mechanization of cotton picking will be accelerated in the Jizzakh, Kashkadarya, Syrdarya and Tashkent regions, at the second stage (2023–2026) - in all other regions.

In 2020, the Ministry of Finance will continue to cover costs of 30 percent for the use of machinery services for harvesting cotton in the Jizzakh, Kashkadarya, Syrdarya and Tashkent regions.

Enterprises included in Uzbekistan’s Uzagrotechsanoathholding agriculture machinery company’s system are allowed to purchase components and raw materials for the production of agricultural machinery, conclude direct contracts for transport and other services without tendering by selecting the best offers.

They are also allowed to pay VAT with a delay of 270 days from the date of placing goods in the customs regime of release for free circulation (import) when importing components and raw materials.
