According to preliminary data of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Agriculture, gross output of animal husbandry amounted to 2.3 trillion tenge ($6.1 billion) in 2019, which is 12.5 percent more than in 2018, Trend reports with reference to the press office of Kazakhstan’s prime minister.

The number of cattle increased by 4 percent to 7.4 million animals, horses by 6.8 percent to 2.8 million animals, poultry animals by 2 percent to 44.3 million animals, sheep by 2.7 percent to 16.9 million animals, camels by 3.5 percent to 214,800 animals, pigs by 2.9 percent to 822,000 animals.

The carcass weight poultry meat increased by 16 percent to 223,000 tons, beef by 5 percent to 501,400 tons, horse meat by 4.3 percent to 132,000 tons, lamb by 0.8 percent to 152,000 tons, pork by 0.3 percent to 86,000 tons.

Some 115.7 billion tenge ($306.2 million) was allocated to subsidize livestock breeding development and to increase industry’s output.

Additionally, implementation of the agreement on principles of participation in the development of the modern agro-multi-protein industry in Kazakhstan with US Tyson Foods company is to give an impetus to animal husbandry development.

The first stage of the agreement oversees construction of a modern meat processing complex in Kazakhstan. The complex will both meet the needs of local market, and export goods to foreign countries, helping to ensure the country's annual agricultural profit of over $1 billion.
