Georgia increases tea imports from Azerbaijan

In 2019, Georgia increased tea imports from Azerbaijan by 19.5 percent or 120.1 tons compared to 2018, Trend reports referring to Georgian National Statistics Office (Geostat).

Last year, Georgia imported 735.3 tons of tea worth $4.5 million from Azerbaijan.

In 2018, Georgia imported 615.2 tons of tea worth $3.6 million from Azerbaijan.

In 2019, the volume of foreign trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Georgia amounted to $1.05 billion, which is $36.9 million or 3.4 percent less compared to 2018. In 2018, this figure amounted to $1.09 billion.

Azerbaijan accounts for 8.1 percent of Georgia’s total trade turnover.

In 2019, Georgia imported goods and products from Azerbaijan in the amount of $559.13 million; compared to the previous year, this figure decreased by 5.7 percent.

Georgia's export to Azerbaijan totaled $498.70 million. This is 0.7 percent more compared to 2018.

In the trade turnover between Georgia and Azerbaijan a negative balance reached $60.42 million. In annual terms this indicator decreased by 33.4 percent. In 2018, the negative balance amounted to $90.691 million.
