Georgia increases export of copper ores to China

In 2019, Georgia exported 102,286 tons of copper ores to China in a total amount of $172.2 million, which is $17.2 million more compared to 2018, Trend reports referring to National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

In the reporting period Georgia exported 5,214 tons of wine of fresh grapes worth $18.8 million to China. Over the same period of 2018, 4,933 tons of wine totaling $19.8 million was exported from Georgia to China.

Meanwhile, 71.1 tons instruments and appliances used in medicine worth $12.9 million were exported from Georgia to China. This is 11,4 tons more compared to 2018.

During the reporting period, Georgia exported 1,765 tons of ginger, saffron, turmeric, thyme, bay leaves, curry and other spices in the amount of $3.6 million to China. During 2018, export of ginger, saffron, turmeric, thyme, bay leaves, curry and other spices from Georgia to China amounted to 203,5 tons totaling $417,000.

Meanwhile, Georgia exported 2,504 tons precious metal ores and concentrates worth $5.7 million to China.

China ranks third in Georgia’s commodity circulation.

In 2019 the foreign trade turnover between Georgia and China amounted to more than $1.08 billion, which is 8.5 percent of the total trade turnover of Georgia.

During the reporting period, Georgia exported products worth $227.6 million to the Chinese market, which is 6 percent of total exports from Georgia.

Meanwhile, China exported products worth $858.6 million to the Georgian market, which comprises 9.5 percent of total import to Georgia.
