Uzbekistan is discussing prospects for cooperation in textile production with a group of Belgian companies, Trend reports via Uzbek media.
Extraordinary Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Benelux Countries (Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg) Diller Hakimov met with Olivier Hellyn, CEO of Belgian Movelta Group, in Brussels.
The team of specialists of Movelta Group manufactures products on the best weaving machines using the best yarns available in the European market.
The Belgian side was acquainted with information on holding major international events related to textiles in Uzbekistan, first of all, the exhibition "UzTextile Expo", annually organized in September in Tashkent.
Ambassador of Uzbekistan invited Belgian businessmen to take a part in First Tashkent International Investment Forum, on 5-6 March this year.
According to the State Statistics Committee, in 2017 textile industry of Uzbekistan accounted for 17 percent of the total industrial volume of the country, its share in GDP made up four percent, and in the volume of non-food consumer goods production - over 44 percent. In recent years, the industry has grown annually by approximately 18 percent and exports by 10 percent.
