Azerbaijan’s trade turnover with its five main trade partners amounted to over $1.8 billion in January 2020 or 65.4 percent of its total trade turnover, Trend reports referring to the country’s State Customs Committee.
Italy retained the status of Azerbaijan’s biggest trading partner with a turnover of $1.1 billion and a share of 41.1 percent. Italy is followed by Turkey - $224.4 million (7.9 percent), Israel - $182 million (6.4 percent), Russia - $167.1 million (9 percent) and China - $120.1 million (4.2 percent).

During the reported period, Azerbaijan bought most of the products worth $117 million (16.2 percent) from Russia. It is followed by China - $113.9 million (15.8 percent), Turkey - $101.7 million (14.1 percent), Germany - $44.1 million (6.1 percent) and the US - $29.5 million (4.1 percent).
The share of these countries in Azerbaijan’s total imports was 56.3 percent.
Italy was the main importer of Azerbaijani products in January 2020. Some $1.1 billion (53.6 percent) of Azerbaijan’s total export accounted for Italy. It is followed by Israel - $180.9 million (8.5 percent), Turkey – $122.7 million (5.8 percent), Tunisia – about $93.2 million (4.4 percent) and Ukraine - $84.2 million (4 percent).
The share of these countries in Azerbaijan’s total export was about 76.3 percent.
In general, Azerbaijan’s foreign trade operations increased by 23.8 percent and amounted to $2.8 billion in January 2020, compared to the same period of 2019.
The positive balance amounted to over $1.4 billion in January 2020, which is 5.5 percent less compared to the same period of 2019 ($7.9 billion).
