Iran working to intensify production of face masks, other healthcare products

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb. 25

The Iranian Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade is fully ready for the production and supply of face masks and other health care products, Iran's Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Reza Rahmani said.

“All enterprises producing detergents have intensified their activity in the country and some enterprises operate 24 hours a day upon the appeal of the Iranian Ministry of Health and Medical Education,” the minister added, Trend reports referring to the ministry's website.

Rahmani added that presently, the enterprises may produce 250,000 tons of liquid soap and 55,000 tons of soap per year.

The Iranian minister said that the enterprises producing face masks also intensified their activity and it is possible to produce two million masks daily.

Iran is one of the recent countries, affected by the rapidly-spreading coronavirus. According to recent reports from the Iranian officials, over 90 people have been infected, 15 people have already died.

The country continues to apply strict measures to contain the further spread.

Reportedly, the disease was brought to Iran by a businessman from Iran's Qom city, who went on a business trip to China, despite official warnings. The man died later from the disease.

Following the reports of coronavirus spread in the Islamic Republic, several countries have taken measures, including closing borders and banning flights.

Meanwhile, the WHO (World Health Organization) has offered its help to Iran, providing certain medicine to the infected.
