Uzbekistan's Uztextilprom delegation met with the management of the Textile Department of Istanbul Technological University in Istanbul, Trend reports citing Uzbek media.
Dean of the Faculty of Textile Engineering and Design, Professor Omer Berk Berkalp, professors and employees of the University participated in the meeting from the Turkish side.
Issues of implementing joint projects were discussed during the meeting.
In particular, ways of financing the expected cooperation with attraction of grant funds of Scientific and Technical Research Council of Turkey, attraction of funds of European Union, grants of Ministry of Innovation of Uzbekistan directed to bilateral cooperation, as well as funds of Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency for work in social programs, and support of large production enterprises were discussed.
At present, the draft Memorandum of Cooperation between the organizations is being considered for further signature and approval.
"Currently, Turkey is ranked 4th in the world by the quality and novelty of the equipment used in textile mills. The quality of the produced products has already reached the level when Turkish textiles are deservedly compared to German and Italian textiles in terms of quality. At the same time, Turkish high quality textiles are much cheaper than their European counterparts. Today, the production of textiles accounts for 20 percent of all industrial production in Turkey and about 10 percent of total GDP of Turkey," the report says.
To date, there are 12 universities operating in Turkey, aimed at training personnel for the textile industry.
In January 2020, the trade turnover of textile raw materials between Turkey and Uzbekistan increased by 18 percent to $6.6 million.
