Uzbekistan expands co-op with Russia's Novosibirsk region

The trade turnover between Uzbekistan and the Novosibirsk region of Russia reached almost $100 million in 2019, Trend reports with the reference to Uzbek media.

Bilateral cooperation issues were discussed at the working meeting between Russia’s Novosibirsk region Governor Andrey Travnikov with Uzbek Surkhandarya region's Mayor Tura Bobolov, the report said.

According to Tura Bobolov, further cooperation with the region in various areas, including agriculture sector and industry, is very important.

The agreement on cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Russia’s Novosibirsk region was signed in October 2018.

In 2019 trade turnover of Novosibirsk region with Uzbekistan amounted to $88.9 million: export - $60.7 million, import - $28.2 million, the report says.

The region provides Uzbekistan with oil products, organic chemical compounds, explosives, plastics and their products, wood and its products, paper and cardboard, rolled ferrous metals, non-ferrous metals and their products, tools, boiler equipment, engines and generators, pharmaceutical products, perfumes, and food. In turn, the region imports plastics and their products, knitwear and clothing, carpets, textiles, cotton, chemical fibers, cotton, fruits, vegetables, nuts, spices and canned products from Uzbekistan.

The Economist magazine chose Uzbekistan as "country of the year", which fought for this title with New Zealand, Northern Macedonia and Sudan. First place was awarded to Uzbekistan for its economic success in 2019.
