Russia's Wildberries company prepares to enter Uzbek retail market

Representatives of Russia's Wildberries, the largest online retailer in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), said they consider Uzbekistan's market very promising, Trend reports with reference to Uzbek media.

Uztextilprom Association hosted a meeting with representatives of the Russian company Wildberries, the report said.

The parties discussed possible cooperation in the field of providing producers of goods of textile and garment and knitwear industry of Uzbekistan with the possibility of Uzbek products' sales and export via internet as well as increasing e-commerce market volume.

Wildberries expressed readiness to work out the issue of investing in the economy of Uzbekistan.

Following the meeting, the sides agreed to consider entering the Wildberries market in Uzbekistan on a phased basis and create a joint contact group for further productive further cooperation.

The Wildberries online store sells various categories of goods, including toys, sports and children's food, electronics and books.

Through the Wildberries portal, 56 Uzbek manufacturers have already been selling their products, the total sales volume of which in 2019 amounted to 69.6 million dollars, which was in incraese by 31 percent compared to 2018. The company has stores in Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Poland.
