In Uzbekistan, the production of fat and oil products decreased by 30.8 percent in 2019 compared to 2018, reaching 182,400 tons, Trend reports via Uzbek media.

In value terms, taking into account the devaluation of the national currency, it fell by 79.2 percent to 157 billion soum ($16,4 million).

In particular, production of vegetable oil decreased by 18.7 percent to 170,600 tons in 2019, margarine - by 73.6 percent to 10,200 tons, butter - by 82.6 percent to 1,600 tons.

To date, 25 oil and fat-and-oil enterprises operate in Uzbekistan with a total design capacity of over 2.5 million tons of vegetable oil, margarine, mayonnaise and other products. However, their workload in recent years did not exceed 50 percent.

In January 2019, an Association of Fat and Oil Fat Products Enterprises was established in the country, whose members are exempt from customs duties on the import of oil seeds and VAT on the volumes produced on their basis until 2021.

In addition, until 2022 they receive a 90-day grace period from the date of the customs declaration on the import of equipment and other auxiliary materials necessary for the production of fat and oil products that are not produced in the country.
