As many as 21 tons of sturgeon were produced in Iran's Qazvin Province in the current Iranian year (began March 21, 2019), said Iraj Rahmani, head of the Fishing section of the Department of Agriculture at the Qazvin province, Trend reports citing the department's website.
Rahmani added that the production of sturgeon fish has increased by 15 percent in comparison with the last year.
The official said that the sturgeon is grown at 4 facilities at the province.
A total of 399,000 tons of fish were produced in Qazvin this year.
In total, 455,000 tons of sea products is planned to be produced in Iran this year (March 21, 2019 to March 21, 2020). Of the mentioned amount, 3,400 tons refer to sturgeon.
