TEHRAN, Iran, March 27

The companies damaged in the wake of coronavirus in Iran will be provided with low interest loan, said Iran's President Hassan Rouhani, Trend reports citing IRNA.

He announced the decision to assist businesses that suffered from COVID-19 during the meeting of the National Committee on Combating Coronavirus,

Rouhani noted that $17.8 billion will be allocated for his purpose.

The president said that the preferential rate of loans for firms, which have suffered from coronavirus stands at 12 percent with a two-year pay period.

Rouhani also announced the tightening of social distancing rules in the next two weeks.

Iran has confirmed 2,389 cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) since March 25, increasing the total number of patients infected with the disease to 29,406.

This is while a total 10,457 infected people recovered from coronavirus and discharged from hospitals.

Over the past 24 hours, 157 patients with COVID-19 have passed away and the number of deaths has increased to 2,234 people.
