Azerbaijan has disclosed the data related to the production volume in the non-oil sector from January through February 2020, Trend reports referring to the report of the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee.

1. Industrial Production

The production volume of industrial goods in Azerbaijan amounted to 7.7 billion manat ($4.5 billion) from January through February 2020.

According to the committee, the production volume of industrial products increased by 0.9 percent during the reporting period compared to the same period of 2019.

In the processing sector, the production of cars, trailers and semi-trailers increased 7 times, other vehicles - 2.5 times, computer, electronic and optical products - 5.7 times, drinks - 2.1 times, woodworking and wood products - by 89.8 percent, clothing – by 79.6 percent, finished metal products – by 56.5 percent, furniture – by 47.3 percent, printing products – by 40.7 percent, metallurgy – by 39.6 percent, production paper and cardboard - by 27.5 percent, production of electrical equipment - by 27.1 percent, textile industry - 25 percent, chemical products - 19.5 percent, tobacco products - 16.3 percent, petroleum products - 11.3 percent, pharmaceutical products - 4.2 percent, rubber and plastic products - by 3.6 percent, food products - by 1.2 percent.

Work on installation and repair of machinery and equipment increased by 7.7 percent, production of machinery and equipment decreased by 21.9 percent, production of construction materials increased by 21.9 percent.

In the field of production, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam, production increased by 18.6 percent, water supply, waste treatment and recycling - by 4.3 percent.

The production volume of raw materials in the metallurgical industry of Azerbaijan amounted to 79.6 million manat ($46.8 million) from January through February 2020, an increase of 39.6 percent compared to the same period of 2019.

The production of finished metal products increased by 56.5 percent, and reached 35.5 million manat ($20.8 million). The increase of 48.05 percent was recorded throughout the industry, and the total gross production amounted to 115.1 million manat ($67.7 million).

During the reporting period, in total, 43,900 tons of steel were smelted in Azerbaijan, showing a decline of 26 percent. Herein, 43,200 tons of rebar were produced, which decreased by 13.1 percent, and 491,000 tons of bars, shafts and profiles, increasing 3.2 times. The production of primary alloys of raw aluminum dropped by exactly a third - to 5.2 tons.

The production volume of building structures made of ferrous metals increased by 2.3 times, reaching 5.6 million manat ($3.2 million), while production of other structures made of ferrous metals increased by 26.4 percent, amounting to 4,680 tons. The production of flexible wires, cables and non-insulated cables made of copper amounted to 1,300 tons, showing an increase of 2.5 times.

The volume of disinfectant production stood at about 15,000 finished packaged products during the reporting period.

Azerbaijan has launched the construction of a plant for the production of small-tonnage trucks and minibuses in the Hajigabul industrial site this year. The plant is expected to be built by summer 2020. Azermash’s share in the construction of a plant for the production of small trucks will reach 100 percent.

2. Agricultural production

The agricultural production volume in actual prices amounted to 656.4 million manat ($386.1 million) in Azerbaijan from January through February 2020, which is by 3.6 percent more than from January through February 2019, Trend reports referring to the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee’s report.

Cultivation is carried out in the fields, orchards and vineyards alongside preparatory activities for planting summer crops are underway.

The crop production increased by 12.7 percent (up to 27.4 million manat that’s $16.1 million), while livestock production – 7.5 percent (629 million manat that’s $370 million) in the reporting period.

So, 82,900 tons of meat, 315,700 tons of milk, 315.7 million pieces of eggs and 31,600 tons of vegetables were produced in the country from January through February 2020.

Meat production increased by 3 percent, milk production - by 1.6 percent, egg production - by 11.6 percent and vegetables – by 15.7 percent from January through February 2020 compared to the period from January through February 2019.

Timely zootechnical and veterinary measures, as well as the work in the direction of improving the productive qualities of livestock, had a positive impact on the dynamic development of animal husbandry.
