The number of enterprises producing protective masks reached 195 as of March 31, which is 9.3 times more than on March 1, 2020, Trend reports with reference to the press service of Association "Uztextilprom".
Daily production of masks is two million 640,000 units.
As reported, 24 enterprises produce 9,000 of medical gowns (overalls) and 398,000 running meters of medical gauze a day.
Protective masks are produced practically in all regions of the country; with the biggest number of masks is produced in Tashkent region (404,000), Tashkent (283,000), and Kashkadarya region (232,000).
It is noted that this data covers the enterprises that have been monitored by Uztextilprom Association and actual production volumes may differ from these figures.
Measures are currently being taken to increase the production of masks to five million masks per day.
Earlier, Uzbek SPUNMELT company started to build a plant to produce raw materials for medical masks in Uzbekistan.
The production capacity will be more than 7,000 tons of finished spunbond fabric per year.
