Metallurgical Plant of Uzbekistan increases exports

From January through March 2020, Uzbek's Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combine (AGMK) exported products worth about $173.3 million, Trend reports citing the press service of the company.

"In the first quarter of 2020, the plant exported products worth $173.3 million, the growth rate was 82.1 percent compared to the same period of 2019, and the plan was fulfilled by 118.8 percent," the report says.

AGMK sent abroad 20,956 tons of copper products (growth rate - 80.9 percent), 19,570 tons of zinc products (increase by 70.2 percent), 1,024 tons of Portland cement (growth by 123 percent) and 18,610 tons of lead concentrate (increase by 41 percent).

The plant's geography of supplies includes such countries as Russia, Ukraine, Germany, France, Greece, the Netherlands, Italy, Turkey, Iran, India, China, UAE, Egypt, Qatar and others.

The Almalyk MMC is the only copper producer in Uzbekistan. The plant accounts for about 90 percent of silver and 20 percent of gold production in the country. In August 2018 the state assets of the enterprise were transferred to SFI Management Group.
