Volume of wheat to be harvested in Iran's Kerman province announced

As much as 152,000 tons of wheat will be harvested by June 4 from southern part of the Kerman province in southeaster Iran, said Faramarz Rastghari, an official of agricultural department of Southern Kerman province, Trend reports citing IRNA.

According to Rastghari, wheat has been planted on 36,500 hectares in the southern part of Kerman province.

Rastghari added that there are 10 shopping centers that are ready to purchase of wheat from farmers.

The official said that wheat harvest began in some parts of southern Kerman four days ago. It is forecasted that more than 120,000 tons of wheat will be purchased from farmers by the end of the harvest.

The Department of Agriculture controls 7 districts independently of the province in the south of Kerman province.

Wheat harvest started in Iran on April 4 and will last about 4,5 months. Iran is expected to harvest 14 million tons of wheat this year.

The price of ordinary wheat to be purchased from farmers in the current planting year is set between 25,000 rials (about 59 cents) and 26,000 rials (about 61 cents) per kilogram of durum wheat in Iran in the current Iranian year. A number of products, including wheat, tea, rice and other products, are purchased from farmers by the state company under a guarantee in Iran.
