TEHRAN, Iran, April 11

Trend:

Iran's trade with Eurasian countries has continued despite the coronavirus spread, deputy for foreign affairs at Iran's Customs Hossein Kakhki told Trend.

"Iran signed an agreement with the Eurasian Economic Union members in May of 2018 and the preferential trade deal came into force in October, 27, 2019," he said.

"Iran's export volume to the Eurasian countries has reached $496 million while the import was $1.38 billion since October 27,2019 to April 3, 2020," he added.

"The major part of Iran's export to EEU was transited via Azerbaijan, because of the coronavirus situation, but it has not been halted," he said.

"Apart from some countries that implemented trade limitations, the transaction with other Eurasian countries has reduced but has not stopped," he added.

"In terms of sanitary and medical items import, Iran's Customs Office has tried to facilitate the process and it was praised by the health minister," he said.

Iran’s export to Eurasia has increased after the preferential trade pact. Based on the agreement, about 840 commodity items are subject to preferential tariffs, which mean tariffs on some goods are reduced and for some commodities tariffs are levied.
