BAKU, Azerbaijan, Apr. 21

By Fidan Babayeva - Trend:

Two cars produced by Azerbaijan’s Azermash OJSC were planned to be exported to Ukraine for the first time on April 10, 2020 but the export was postponed till May due to a number of logistical problems, the company's First Deputy Chairman of the board Zaur Hajiyev told Trend on April 21.

“The income from this export will reach 11,000 euros,” Hajiyev added. “Some 600 cars are planned to be exported to Ukraine till late 2020.”

"The next step in 2020 will be the export of cars to Uzbekistan,” the first deputy chairman added. “It is planned to increase the number of the cars which are exported to Uzbekistan in 2020 up to 2,000."

“A total of 2,065 cars were produced in 2019,” Hajiyev said. “This year it is planned to bring this number up to 4,000.”

Touching upon the issue of cooperation, Hajiyev stressed that the Azerbaijani Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population signed a contract with the Azermash plant for the purchase of 164 Khazar LX cars on April 9. The cost of the contract amounted to 1.9 million manat ($1.1 million).

The official opening of Azermash plant was held on March 29, 2018. The founders of the plant are Iranian Iran Khodro and Azerbaijani AzEuroCar. The plant operates in the Neftchali industrial zone in southeastern Azerbaijan. All cars produced at the plant comply with Euro-5 standards.

The investments in the establishment of the plant at the first stage amounted to $15 million.
