Scientists at the Research Institute of Agricultural Mechanization of Uzbekistan have created an energy-efficient and resource-saving technical device for volumetric hilling of seedbeds, Trend reports citing Uzbek media.

"Uzbek scientists obtained a patent for a new invention. Field tests of the device were successfully carried out at farms of Kuyichik District of Tashkent Region and Uychi District of Namangan Region," the report says.

The scientists have already developed an industrial copy of the device. In one pass it softens the soil on the sides and on the surface of the seedbeds, completely eliminating weeds and forming a soft layer of soil.

During the process, fuel consumption is reduced by 1.57 times, while utilization costs decrease by 40.8 percent.

In early April, during a video conference, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev increased the land tax for those who will leave the plots of land uncultivated.

It was instructed to continue planting spring crops with the observance of quarantine measures both in the fields and household plots. Otherwise, it will be difficult to maintain stable prices in the domestic market, the message said.
