Largest copper producer of Uzbekistan increases exports of sulfuric acid

Uzbekistan's Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combine increased exports of sulfuric acid, Trend reports citing the press service of the company.

In the period from January through April 2020, Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combine managed to export 7,500 tons of sulfuric acid to Kazakhstan, the report says.

In the first quarter of 2020, the plant exported products worth $173.3 million, the growth rate compared to the same period last year was 82.1 percent, and the plan was overfulfilled by 18.8 percent.

Thus, the enterprise shipped abroad 20,956 tons of copper products (growth rate - 80.9 percent), 19,570 tons of zinc products (increase by 70.2 percent), 1,024 tons of Portland cement (growth by 123 percent) and 18,610 tons of lead concentrate (increase by 41 percent).

The plant's geography of supplies includes such countries as Russia, Ukraine, Germany, France, Greece, the Netherlands, Italy, Turkey, Iran, India, China, UAE, Egypt, Qatar and others.

Almalyk MMC is the only copper producer in Uzbekistan. The plant accounts for about 90 percent of silver and 20 percent of gold production in the country. In August 2018 the state assets of the enterprise were transferred to SFI Management Group.
