By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

A new poultry development program has been launched in six regions of Georgia with the financial support of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), Trend reports via Georgian media.

A total of 16 million euros worth grants and loans on highly favorable terms have been allocated for the implementation of the program.

Small and medium-size farmers represented the target group within the mentioned program. The farmers must have 5-20 cows to be eligible for the program.

The program will be carried out in Imereti, Samegrelo, Samtskhe-Javakheti, Kvemo Kartli, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kakheti regions.

Farmers should apply to the Agriculture Development Agency to get co-financing. There are four applications submitted to the Agency so far.

The Agricultural Development Agency launched the state program for modernization of the livestock sector and access to markets on April 25 on the initiative of the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture of Georgia and with financial support from IFAD.

This program will allow farmers and entrepreneurs engaged in agricultural activities to receive significant support from the state.
