Iranian government plans to expand mine exploration and production in the current Iranian year (started March 20, 2020), said Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.
"We should ensure more production as compared to the previous year. Encountering coronavirus pandemic and sanctions, the only way to meet our needs is to produce," said Rouhani, Trend reports citing IRNA.
"The production must be expanded for creating jobs and export. Mining sector should be explored and the necessary permits can be issued for the private sector to be active in this field," he said.
There are some mines that need more investment and the government should help especially in terms of exploration, he added.
Rouhani went on to add that the shares of the Iranian Mines & Mining Industries Development & Renovation (IMIDRO) should be offered at the stock exchange.
"The stock market has a good potential and we witness good transactions in Tehran stock exchange. We will try to increase it," he added.
