More than 268,000 tons of products worth about $240 million were exported via customs of Semnan province in northern Iran in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 to March 20, 2020), said Deputy Chairman for the Industry, Mine and Trade Organization of Semnan province Hamed Reza Maddah, Trend reports citing the organization’s website.
According to Maddah, product exports increased by 43 percent in terms of value compared to the preceding year (from March 21, 2018 to March 21, 2019).
Maddah added that the products were exported through 115 companies in the province and the cost of each ton of exported product was about $892.
The official said that during the reporting period, more than 128 products were exported, including lead ingots, disposable products, light hydrocarbons, cables, ferrosilicon, water conditioners, washing powder, iron and steel products, cement, ceramics, confectionery and others.
"The products were mainly exported to 48 countries, including Iraq, Turkey, India, Italy, Georgia, Hong Kong, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, the United Arab Emirates and others," he said.
Maddah said that about 22,000 tons of products worth more than $61 million were imported via Semnan province last year.
According to the official, the imported products were mainly electrical equipment and its spare parts, bakery equipment and equipment for various industries.
Maddah said that the cost of each ton of the imported product was about $2,740. These products have been imported from 20 countries, including Turkey, China, Uzbekistan, Italy, Germany, Belgium, the UAE and other countries.
