Kazakhstan's light industry output up as local ventures increase production capacities

The light industry output in Kazakhstan increased by 13.9 percent over the course of last four months of 2020, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Industry and Infrastructural Development.

The ministry said that textile goods production increased by 13.4 percent, of leather and related goods increased by 12.4 percent, of clothes by 11.3 percent.

The ministry noted that the growth is due to an increase in the production capacities of industry’s large enterprises.

“In particular, Ball Textile LLP launched the third workshop for the production of carpets and rugs. QazProdGroup LLP increased production of shoes, EKOHIM LLP increased production of ropes, synthetic ropes, cords, laces, weaving nets and rope products. In December 2019, a production line for the production of cotton yarn by TPK Alliance LLP was launched, and 150 tons of yarn were already produced in 1Q2020,” the ministry said.

The ministry further added that in order to supply Kazakh citizens with protective wear from infectious diseases, 70 sowing ventures started producing masks.

“Total production of masks amounted to about 40 million pieces over the period from Mar. 15, 2020. In addition, orders for protective suits sewing for medical workers have increased. Azala Textile LLP launched nine additional machines, which allowed to increase the gauze output from 1,200 meters up to 10,000 meters per day,” the report said.
